US proposes restriction of work permits for asylum seekers

The US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has proposed a plan to obstruct asylum seekers from obtaining work authorisations. In a statement on Friday, the DHS said work permits issuance for asylum applicants would pause until average processing times for certain asylum applications reach 180 days or lower.
