The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has called on state governments to prioritise contact tracing following the ongoing outbreak of Lassa fever across the country.So far, 70 deaths have been confirmed from the zoonotic disease.The Director-General of the agency, Jide Idris, disclosed this during a press briefing on Friday.According to Idris, the agency has continued to witness a rise in infections among healthcare workers, whom he described as “frontliners.”Lassa fever is an animal-borne (zoonotic) acute viral illness spread by the common African rat, also known as the Mastomys rat (…)
