At least 11 suspected bandits lost their lives when an improvised explosive device (IED) they were allegedly transporting exploded prematurely near Babbar Doka village in the Dansadau Emirate, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.The incident unfolded as the suspects reportedly moved through bush paths on motorcycles, possibly en route to deploy the explosive against security forces amid a surge in banditry and the growing use of IEDs in attacks on operatives in the northwest region.Local residents described hearing a massive blast.
