Uganda's Electoral Commission has officially declared President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the winner of the January 15, 2026, presidential election, securing his seventh consecutive term and extending his rule that began in 1986 to nearly 40 years.According to the final results announced today, Museveni received 7.9 million votes (71.65%), while his main challenger, opposition leader Bobi Wine (Robert Kyagulanyi), obtained 2.7 million votes (24.72%).
