Alaafin breaks silence, rejects Makinde’s claim on Obas’ council leadership

The Alaafin of Oyo’s Palace has rejected claims by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, that he consulted the Alaafin, the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Soun of Ogbomoso on the issue of rotating the chairmanship of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs. In a statement dated January 15, 2026, the palace described the governor’s claim as inaccurate, insisting that no such meeting ever occurred. The statement was signed by the Director of Media and Publicity to the Alaafin, Bode Durojaiye.
