COAS Pushes for Stronger Nigeria–US Military Ties

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has called for strengthened and expanded strategic cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the United States Army to better address Nigeria’s complex and evolving security threats.The COAS made the appeal during a courtesy visit by the United States Defence Attaché to Nigeria, Lieutenant Colonel Semira Moore, at the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.Lieutenant General Shaibu commended the United States Government for its longstanding partnership and consistent support to the Nigerian Army.
