28 Abducted Travellers Freed in Plateau State After Weeks in Captivity

Twenty-eight travellers, including men, women, and children, who were kidnapped on December 21, 2025, in Zak community, Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area, have been released by their abductors.The victims were en route from Zak to Sabon Layi community in the same district to attend a Maulud celebration when gunmen ambushed their vehicle, taking them hostage.Following the abduction, the kidnappers contacted relatives and initially demanded N1.5 million ransom per person a total of N42 million an amount families described as unaffordable.
