Guinea to inaugurate Doumbouya as President January 17

Guinea’s military ruler, Mamady Doumbouya, is set to be formally sworn in as President on January 17, following his victory in last month’s presidential election, the presidency announced on Tuesday.According to a statement shared on the presidency’s official Facebook page, the inauguration ceremony will take place at the General Lansana Conté Stadium on the outskirts of Conakry, the Guinean capital.Doumbouya, who has largely stayed out of public view since casting his vote in the election, had earlier pledged not to seek elected office after taking powerHowever, he later entered the race, (…)
