2.5m Nigerians register as INEC concludes first phase of CVR

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the conclusion of the first phase of the ongoing nationwide continuous voter registration (CVR) exercise. The commission began the online pre-registration on August 18 and in-person registration on August 25. In a statement on Wednesday, Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s director of voter education and publicity, said 9,891,801 Nigerians have registered online since pre-registration started.
