US embassy, consulate in Nigeria to close Thursday for Thanksgiving

The United States embassy in Abuja and the consulate general in Lagos will be closed on Thursday to observe the country’s Thanksgiving holiday. The US mission notified the public in an X post on Wednesday afternoon. Thanksgiving is a federal holiday in the US celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is annually held to give thanks for the harvest and blessings of the past year. The heart of the celebration involves families and friends gathering to share a large meal with turkey as the centrepiece, along with other traditional dishes.
