FG Suspends Fuel Tax Until Naira Strengthens, Oil Prices Drop

The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the proposed fuel tax will remain on hold until the naira appreciates significantly and global crude oil prices decline, according to Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms.Speaking at the 2025 National Logistics and Transport Forum in Lagos on Wednesday, Oyedele reiterated that the 5% fuel surcharge, part of the newly enacted tax reform bills is not intended to burden citizens amid current economic pressures.“The fuel tax will not be implemented now.
