Nigeria Seeks FAO Support to Revive Lake Chad Basin

Nigeria has requested technical and financial assistance from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to revitalize the Lake Chad Basin, focusing on boosting agribusiness, livelihoods, and food security.During a bilateral meeting, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Abubakar Kyari called for stronger collaboration with FAO to expand irrigation, enhance water management, and build resilience for smallholder farmers to support year-round farming.
