Ekiti State Disburses N2 Billion to 800 Retirees, Boosting Gratuity Payments to N14.6 Billion

The Ekiti State Government on Monday distributed N2 billion to 800 retirees to clear gratuity arrears, bringing the total gratuity payments to N14.6 billion and pension payments to N25 billion over three years. Governor Biodun Oyebanji, represented by Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye, presented cheques to retirees from 2015 and 2016 during a ceremony in Ado-Ekiti.Oyebanji emphasized his commitment to improving retirees’ welfare, noting that his administration paid N1.3 billion in gratuity arrears in 2024 and has now increased this to N2 billion.
