Calabar Police Defy Court Order, Harass Motorists Over Tinted Glass Permits

Despite a court order barring the Nigeria Police from enforcing the tinted glass permit policy, officers in Calabar, Cross River State, continue to harass motorists and impound vehicles. On Wednesday, journalists observed about fifteen policemen and traffic wardens stationed outside Akim Police Station along IBB Way, stopping vehicles and demanding tinted glass permits, even from drivers with factory-fitted or untinted glass.Mr. John Osakwe, a local journalist, was stopped and had his car key seized after an officer claimed his front and rear glass shades differed, demanding a ₦30,000 (…)
