High cost of meat: Nutritonist urges Nigerians to embrace cheaper alternatives like mushrooms

With the rising cost of meat, fish, and eggs, nutrition experts have advised Nigerians to turn to more affordable protein sources such as beans, soybeans, mushrooms, locust beans, crayfish, and even edible insects to maintain healthy diets and prevent malnutrition.Findings show that a kilogram of beef now sells for N7,000–N8,000, goat meat for up to N10,000, while eggs cost between N6,000–N6,500 per crate.
