Nigerian National Arrested for Duping Indian Woman of N9m in Marriage Scam

Police have apprehended Oliver Ugwu Okechukwu, a 47-year-old Nigerian citizen, for allegedly defrauding a woman from Ilkal town in Bagalkot district of ₹5.5 lakh under the guise of marriage. The arrest was made by Bagalkot CEN police in Mumbai on Thursday, September 4, 2025, according to Bagalkot SP Siddarth Goel.Okechukwu, residing in Mumbai’s Shivaji Nagar Bonkode Ganv, Khairane Thane, reportedly targeted women by obtaining their details from matrimonial websites.
