FG to Disconnect Non-Compliant Power Firms from Grid Over System Failures

The Federal Government has issued a stern warning to power-generating companies (GenCos), threatening disconnection from the national grid if they fail to activate Free Governor Control (FGC) on all units to prevent recurring system collapses and enhance grid stability.In a directive, Order NERC/2025/094, signed on August 26 by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Vice-Chairman Musiliu Oseni and Commissioner Dafe Akpeneye, GenCos must comply with FGC requirements by September 1, 2025, or face penalties.
