U.S. Embassy, Lagos consulate to shut down Monday for labour day

The United States diplomatic missions in Nigeria will observe a temporary closure on Monday, September 1, 2025, in recognition of the U.S. Labour Day holiday. In a statement released via its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, the U.S. Mission confirmed that both the Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will suspend normal operations for the day. Labour Day, marked annually on the first Monday of September, is a major federal holiday in the United States dedicated to celebrating the role, resilience, and achievements of American workers and the labour movement. (…)
