UK Visa Issuances Plummet, Driven by Sharp Drop in Work Permits

The UK has seen a significant decline in visas issued to foreign nationals for work, study, family, and humanitarian purposes, with work-related applications experiencing the steepest fall.According to Home Office data, 834,977 entry visas were granted in the year ending June 2025, a 32% drop from 1.23 million the previous year. This marks the lowest total since September 2021, when 802,415 visas were issued.Work visas saw the largest decline, nearly halving from 545,855 to 286,071, a 48% decrease.
