Bayelsa State Cracks Down on Fake Drugs, Products Amid Rising Health Crisis

The Bayelsa State Government has raised alarm over the surge in fake drugs, beverages, cosmetics, and hazardous products flooding local markets, linking them to increasing cases of liver, kidney, and lung diseases. At a press briefing in Yenagoa, Commissioner for Information, Orientation, and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, called it a “serious emergency” requiring urgent action. The government has launched a multi-agency crackdown, involving the Ministries of Environment, Health, and Trade and Investment, alongside the Environmental Sanitation Authority and Consumer Protection Unit. (…)
