Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) vice-presidential candidate, has called for the appointment of a credible chairman for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to replace outgoing Chairman Mahmood Yakubu. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 22, 2025, Baba-Ahmed criticized Yakubu’s tenure, alleging that electoral fraud under his leadership has fueled Nigeria’s insecurity and socio-economic challenges.“Nigeria doesn’t need an election-rigger to lead INEC.
