Two Nurses, Female Soldier Arrested for Alleged Newborn Theft in Cross River

In Akamkpa, Cross River State, two nurses and a serving female soldier face arrest over the alleged theft and sale of a newborn baby. The arrests followed a report by 19-year-old Justina Valentine Boniface from Aningeje village, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama.Boniface, who gave birth to a boy on August 12, 2025, at the Primary Health Centre in Aningeje, where she attended antenatal care, alleged that nurses Ndifon Nelly Ekpu, 45, and Obi Mary Baken, 38, stole her baby while she slept.
