Niger state takes AGF to s’court over exclusion from 13% derivation

The Niger state government has sued the attorney-general of the federation (AGF) and minister of justice over the state’s exclusion from the 13 percent derivation fund. In an originating summons filed at the supreme court, the state, through its counsel Mohammed Ndarani, is seeking an interpretation of section 232 (1) and (2) of the 1999 constitution (as amended), as well as the application of relevant provisions of the Allocation of Revenue (Federation Account, etc.) Act, 2004.
