‘We couldn’t put our house in order’ — NNPP explains absence from Lagos LG poll

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) says it is not fielding any candidates in Saturday’s local government council election in Lagos due to “internal wrangling” in the party. Voting is currently underway to elect local government chairpersons and councillors across 20 LGA and 37 LCDAs of the state. According to NAN, Ogini Olaposi, NNPP national publicity secretary, explained that the decision to withdraw from the election came after the party experienced internal strife, including a leadership tussle allegedly initiated by a faction led by Rabiu Kwankwaso, its 2023 presidential candidate.
