‘I asked Don Jazzy shamelessly’ — Tiwa Savage recounts signing to Mavin

Tiwa Savage says she “shamelessly” asked Don Jazzy, music producer and founder of Mavin Records, to sign her after he launched the label. Speaking in a recent interview on Afrobeats Intelligence, Savage recalled how she made the request following her earlier rejection during the Mo’Hits era. “When Don Jazzy started Mavin, I went to him and I said ‘Can you sign me now? Because you didn’t sign me in Mo Hits before’,” she said. “He was just like, ‘You know what? I don’t have a first lady’. I asked him again shamelessly.
